Placencia offers some of the most breathtaking scuba diving sites in the Caribbean.  Belize is renowned for its vibrant reefs, diverse marine life, and exceptional underwater visibility.

We invite you to experience the very best of Belize, both above and below the water. Our dive-and-stay packages allow you to combine world-class diving with the relaxed charm of Placencia Village.

Often described as the “real Belize,” Placencia is a welcoming English-speaking community with beautiful beaches, locally owned restaurants, and authentic Belizean hospitality. Located on the country’s southern coast, the village provides convenient access to some of Belize’s most spectacular marine destinations, including the remote and pristine waters of Glover’s Atoll.

Just offshore lies the Belize Barrier Reef, the second-largest barrier reef system in the world. A short boat ride brings you to colorful coral gardens teeming with tropical fish, rays, turtles, and an incredible diversity of marine life

Belize scuba diving sites are known for vibrant reefs, diverse marine life, and world-class visibility.

The Belize Barrier reef

The Belize Barrier Reef system is the second largest barrier reef in the world. It ranks just after the Australian Great Barrier Reef. It is the longest barrier reef in the entire Western Hemisphere spanning 320 kilometers (200 miles), it encloses 450 islets. These islets are known locally as cayes.

Sustainability

Belize has one of the lowest population densities in Central America, with around 35% of land protected as national parks and reserves. The lack of shoreline development keeps the corals and aquatic life among the most diverse in the Caribbean.

Moreover, just across the lagoon from Placencia, the Maya Mountains host pristine jungle, Mayan temples, cave exploration, and adventure opportunities galore.

While the Northern parts of Belize, such as Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker, have seen commercial development and mass tourism. The Southern parts have retained their authentic charm, developing tourism sustainably — offering accommodation from budget to luxury standards.

Splash Dive Center is a PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center providing scuba instruction, scuba diving and snorkeling tours, plus inland adventure and cultural tours in Placencia and Southern Belize since 2000. Splash was twice selected by the Belize Tourism Board as Tour Operator of the Year — only one other dive center has won this award.

Splash Dive Center is fully equipped with up-to-date scuba and snorkel equipment. We maintain our equipment to ensure it is in first-class condition. We have state-of-the-art air compressors and offer nitrox. With three dive dive and snorkel boats, we offer trips to multiple daily destinations.

Belize Scuba Diving Sites

The small peninsular village of Placencia is ideally located in the South to be closest to the healthiest and most vibrant sections of the Belize Barrier Reef. From Placencia, scuba divers and snorkelers have about a dozen amazing destinations to chose from and some off those have half a dozen or more dive sites.  Most of the destinations are in marine reserves or national parks and some are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
