Gladden Spit Belize Whale Shark Diving

Gladden Spit is famous for the majestic whale sharks that come at the time of the full moon in April, May, and June.
Belize whale shark diving at Gladden Spit is a seasonal experience tied to the full moon in April, May, and June. We are scheduling tours for April 1–11, May 1–11, and May 31–June 10 in 2026.
Whale shark sightings have varied in recent years. In 2025, only one sighting was recorded. In 2024, none were observed. In 2023, one sighting occurred in April. In 2022, we ran three tours and saw whale sharks on one.
Even when whale sharks aren’t spotted, dives here remain exceptional. Cubera, dog, and mutton snapper are abundant, along with schools of jacks, reef sharks, bull sharks, and the occasional hammerhead.
Dates for 2027 are April 20 to 30, May 20 to 30, and June 18 to 28.
Ten years ago, you could go on a whale shark tour at Gladden Spit and almost be certain of seeing at least one whale shark and you would probably see several. In recent years, there have been very few sightings. What happened? You can find some more information here.

Scuba equipment is not included but is available for rent.
