Pompion Caye
Pompion Caye is a private island snorkeling destination located just inside the Belize Barrier Reef, home to an abundance of aquatic life, fish stocks, coral reef biodiversity, and healthy corals. Located about 20 miles east of Placencia and south of Silk Cayes, it remains one of Belize’s most unspoiled reef environments
Surrounded by clear, shallow waters and healthy coral formations, the caye is home to an abundance of tropical fish, rays, and other marine life that thrive along the nearby reef.
As a privately owned island, access to Pompion Caye is limited, making it a peaceful alternative to more heavily visited snorkeling destinations. Splash is one of the few tour operators with permission to bring guests to the caye, providing a unique opportunity to experience this beautiful location both above and below the water.
Whether you’re a first-time snorkeler or an experienced ocean enthusiast, Pompion Caye offers a relaxed and memorable reef experience in an exclusive setting surrounded by the natural beauty of the Belize Barrier Reef.
New to snorkeling? No worries – our guides will have you snorkeling like a pro in no time at all and show you how to find the good stuff. Our guides are particularly good with kids. We offer special rates for kids aged 10 and under

Pompion Caye Trip Plan
Arrive at Splash Dive Center by 08:30 to get fitted out with snorkel gear. Departure is at 09:00 am. The boat ride to the caye takes between 40 and 60 minutes. Snorkel vests are available for all guests.
After a briefing, your licensed snorkel guide will lead a reef tour where you will be introduced to the local marine residents. After a genuine Belize style lunch, continue your underwater exploration. As we work with a low ratio of max 4 snorkelers per snorkel guide you can expect the guides to show you how to find “the good stuff”.
The reef is home to a wide variety of critters. These include spotted drum, huge lobsters, cleaner shrimp, arrow crabs, snapper, and barracuda. Additionally, you will find more varieties of reef fish than you can count.
What You’ll Experience
The shallow reef areas surrounding the caye are home to colorful coral formations, sea fans, and sponges that provide habitat for a wide variety of marine life.
You can expect to see schools of tropical fish such as blue tangs, parrotfish, angelfish, grunts, and snapper. Southern stingrays are frequently spotted gliding over sandy patches, while eagle rays, sea turtles, and nurse sharks may occasionally be encountered. Careful observers may also discover lobster, crabs, and other fascinating reef creatures hiding among the corals.
