Laughing Bird Caye
Laughing Bird Caye is one of the most popular inner reef snorkel destinations, just a short boat ride from Placencia. Notably, it makes a great family excursion with fun and adventure in one trip. Additionally, we offer special rates for kids aged 10 and under. Above all, Laughing Bird Caye is a National Marine Park and a World Heritage Site. As a result, it hosts an abundance and variety of coral habitats and marine life for snorkelers and scuba divers to explore.

Trip Plan for Laughing Bird Caye
First, snorkelers arrive at our dive center by 8:30 am for a 9:00 am departure. The boat ride takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Then, the trip returns around 3:30 pm.
Your licensed guide will take you on a tour of the abundant and varied coral to meet the local residents. For example, you’ll spot spotted drum, huge lobsters, cleaner shrimp, arrow crabs, snapper, barracuda, and more reef fish varieties than you can count.
On the east side of the island, coral mounds rise to about 5 feet from the surface. Sandy patches separate these mounds. Notably, they host a variety of coral types. As a result, the mounds become home to lobsters, barracuda, lizardfish, angel fish, parrot fish, spotted drums, southern rays, and countless reef fish.
On the west side, your guide will point out lobster, barracuda, lizardfish, Nassau grouper, angel fish, furry sea cucumbers, conch, and plenty of colorful juvenile reef fish.
Around midday, you’ll enjoy an authentic Belizean-style picnic lunch or a barbecue. Afterwards, relax on the beach and soak in the beauty of the underwater world at Laughing Bird Caye.
Then, head back into the water for more exploration. You may even have time to circumvent the caye. Finally, you’ll find plenty of areas with healthy corals and abundant aquatic life to check out before heading back to Placencia.
