Your Day at Laughing Bird Caye

Arrive at Splash Dive Center by 8:30 a.m. for our 9:00 a.m. departure. After a scenic 30 to 40-minute boat ride across the Caribbean Sea, you’ll arrive at one of Belize’s most beautiful protected marine parks. We return to Placencia at approximately 3:00 p.m.

Your guide will lead you on two leisurely guided snorkel tours over healthy coral reefs teeming with life. Depending on conditions, you’ll explore different sections of the reef to experience a variety of coral habitats and marine species.

On the eastern side of the caye, large coral mounds rise from sandy patches to within a few feet of the surface. These thriving reefs are home to angelfish, parrotfish, spotted drums, southern stingrays, lobsters, barracuda, lizardfish, and countless colourful tropical fish.

The western reef offers a different underwater landscape where you may encounter Nassau grouper, conch, sea cucumbers, juvenile reef fish, and many other fascinating reef inhabitants. Every trip is different, and our guides enjoy helping guests discover the smaller creatures that are often overlooked.

Around midday, enjoy an authentic Belizean picnic lunch or freshly prepared barbecue before relaxing on the beach, swimming in the calm turquoise water, or simply taking in the peaceful surroundings.

After lunch, you’ll head back into the water for another guided snorkel adventure. If conditions permit, there may even be time to snorkel around much of the island, discovering additional coral gardens and the remarkable marine life that makes Laughing Bird Caye one of Belize’s premier snorkeling destinations.

Whether you’re experiencing the Belize Barrier Reef for the first time or returning for another visit, Laughing Bird Caye offers a memorable day of adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable underwater encounters.
