Placencia is a charming village on the southern coast of Belize. Furthermore, it serves as a gateway to some of the best Belize scuba diving sites. Known for pristine waters and vibrant marine life, it offers access to world-class spots. One such spot is the remote Glover’s Atoll.
The Belize Barrier Reef is the second-largest in the world. Moreover, it is just a short boat ride away. It teems with colorful coral gardens, rays, and tropical fish.
The Belize Barrier reef
The Belize Barrier Reef system is the second largest barrier reef in the world. It ranks just after the Australian Great Barrier Reef. Additionally, it is the largest barrier reef in the entire Western Hemisphere. Furthermore, spanning 320 kilometers (200 miles), it encloses 450 islets. These islets are known locally as cayes.
Sustainability
Belize has one of the lowest population densities in Central America, with around 35% of land protected as national parks and reserves. The lack of shoreline development keeps the corals and aquatic life among the most diverse in the Caribbean.

Additionally, Splash Dive Center is an accredited PADI Dive Center fully equipped with up-to-date scuba and snorkel equipment. We maintain our equipment to ensure it is in first-class condition. We have state-of-the-art air compressors and offer nitrox. With five dive and snorkel boats, we offer trips to multiple daily destinations.
Belize Scuba Diving Sites
The small peninsular village of Placencia is ideally located in the South to be closest to the healthiest and most vibrant sections of the Belize Barrier Reef. From Placencia, scuba divers and snorkelers have about a dozen amazing destinations to chose from and some off those have half a dozen or more dive sites. Most of the destinations are in marine reserves or national parks and some are UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Glovers is one of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites and a marine reserve with designated no-take and conservation zones.
South Water Caye
South Water Caye Marine Reserve is the second largest Marine reserve in Belize, covering 117,875 acres.
Grand Channel
Grand Channel features a cut in the Belize Barrier Reef System with pristine diving conditions.
Silk Cayes
Silk Cayes are part of a marine reserve established to protect the outer reef and cayes and have abundant aquatic life.
Pompion Caye
Pompion Caye is on the Belize Barrier Reef 20 miles east of Placencia in Southern Belize and is suitable for novice to advanced divers.
Laughing Bird Caye
Most of our inner reef dive sites are at or around Laughing Bird Caye which is a National Park and World Heritage Site.
Lionfish Hunting
We are passionate about environmental conservation and sustainability, including culling the invasive lionfish species.
Night Dives
Night dives can be arranged on request to dive sites on the Belize barrier reef as two tank night dives or a combo of day & night dives.
Whale Sharks at Gladden Spit
Gladden Spit is the most easterly part of the Belize Barrier Reef and is part of the Gladden Spit and Silk Cayes Marine Reserve.
Lighthouse Atoll and the Great Blue Hole
This marine reserve contains two of the four Belize Natural Monuments and is located about 50 miles from Belize.
