The Blue Hole, Barrier Reef & Atolls – Caribbean Scuba Diving at its finest!

Splash Dive Center offers you the best Belize scuba diving package – the Grand Slam. Dive the best 14 dive sites in Belize and the Caribbean. This includes diving the famous Blue Hole at Lighthouse Atoll! This package is available to groups of 10 or more.

We dive the two most remote of the Belize atolls – Glovers Reef and Lighthouse as well as the Barrier Reef. The pristine waters with unique coral formations and tons of marine life make Glovers reef a popular spot for divers wanting to see the best Belize has to offer. Glover’s Reef is a UNESCO world heritage site and a marine reserve with designated no-take and conservation zones. Glover’s is the most remote of the atolls with loads of dive sites, so be prepared to be amazed.

The famous Blue Hole was immortalized by Jacques Cousteau in the Calypso. This dive is on almost every hardcore diver’s bucket list and the other two dives at Lighthouse Atoll get rave reviews. Half Moon Caye is usually the second of the three dives with the additional attraction of being the site of Half Moon Caye Natural Monument, home to the rookery of a variety of tropical and marine birds, particularly the red-footed booby. We do 3 tank dives at both atolls.

South Water Caye is a Belize Marine Reserve on the barrier reef protecting the marine and reef environments which makes for some excellent diving. Barrier reef dive sites at South Water Caye include a myriad of interesting walls and canyons with spur and grove formations and very healthy corals. The outer reef walls are one of the best places to see spotted eagle rays. Nearby Grand Channel in the same marine reserve features several wall-dive sites that deserve attention. Eagle rays, southern sting rays, turtles, moray eels, and barracuda are commonly seen. There are a myriad of dive sites at both South Water Caye and Grand Channel, and you could return the next day and do another 3-tank dive and think you were at a new dive destination!

We do two tank dives on the barrier reef at Silk Cayes, followed by a short but encounter-filled snorkel before returning to Placencia. Silk or Queen Cayes is another Marine Reserve near Gladden Spit with a wall that goes down forever! The post-dive snorkel is just inside the barrier reef, where the local fisherman clean their catch, so you are almost guaranteed a nose-to-nose encounter with huge turtles, southern sting rays, eagle rays, and nurse sharks.

Underwater view of the Blue Hole with clear blue water and divers exploring the marine environment

Most of the time we dive the Blue Hole as a day trip, but overnight options are also available. The overnight trip is particularly special — we dive the Blue Hole first thing in the morning before other boats arrive from San Pedro.

We leave early with a continental breakfast at the shop, heading first to South Water Caye Marine Reserve — a great spot for eagle rays. During the surface interval, we cruise to The Elbow at Turneffe Atoll for pelagic encounters.

From there, we continue to Long Caye at Lighthouse Atoll for an overnight stay. The next morning, we dive the Blue Hole in pristine conditions — calm water, resident sharks, and no crowds. After breakfast, we head to Half Moon Caye, one of Belize’s most famous dives, before returning south via South Water Caye Marine Reserve.
