Jungle Ride and Swim Adventure

Your adventure begins at the stable after a brief orientation and training session. Riders are matched with horses suitable for their level of expertise.  First-time riders are welcome.  Head west from the stables through a coconut grove into the green tropical jungle.  The trail winds over pine forest hills, through small creeks and through the rainforest, and past magnificent cohune trees toward the Maya Mountains.  Ride past the yet-to-be-excavated ancient Maya sites looking for birds and animals that call this place home.  Depending on the river level and your inclination, take a swimming break in the Sittee River between two small rapids edged by bamboo before returning to the stables.

This half-day tour leaves Placencia at 7:30 am or 1:00 pm and includes a guide/wrangler and transportation.  Duration is 5 to 6 hours including the one-hour drive to the stables.

The minimum age to do the tour is 7 years and the horses have set a maximum weight limit of 250 pounds.

Wear long pants and closed shoes or boots.  Bring water shoes and a swimsuit and towel for the river swim.  Bring a camera, insect repellent, and sunscreen.  A change of clothing is recommended and change room facilities are available.
