Splash is committed to excellence in service, environmental protection and giving back to our community.

The owners of Splash Dive Center, Patty Ramirez and Ralph Capeling, and the entire staff, are not only committed to giving their guests the highest standards of service, but they are also committed to environmental protection and giving back to the community.

Splash Dive Center is committed to long-term sustainable tourism and diving practices. Our focus is on protecting the Belize Barrier reef, the Whale sharks of Gladden Spit, and all the aquatic life that we are so privileged to be able to show our scuba divers and snorkelers.  We are particularly committed to the culling of the invasive lionfish which is an invasive species causing great damage to our aquatic environment and marine life. We follow and enforce PADI standards with respect to marine life. We ask divers and snorkelers to do their part to protect and preserve the barrier reef by following our code of conduct.

Splash Kids’ Program

Our community support program includes our kids’ program where we teach local kids to dive for free – and have done more than 150 certifications to date.  Two of the “kids” are now at the instructor level and several are dive professionals.

Splash Running Club

Splash Running Club supports runners from elementary school level up to and including international competition.  Some of these kids have the talent to win athletic scholarships given the training that the Splash coaches bring to the table.  To help fund the Running Club, Patty started a not-for-profit organization called Arrecife Handmade. Every purchase from Arrecife Handmade supports sustainable practices and empowers young athletes in the Placencia Peninsula. You can find these products in our dive center or at gift shops in Placencia.

Laughing Bird Caye Annual Cleanup

The north area of Laughing Bird Caye is off limits to the public as it is a bird rookery but for one day each year the park rangers open the area for the Splash organized annual cleanup of the flotsam and jetsam that has accumulated over the past year.  Splash celebrated the 20th Annual Clean Up on March 16, 2024. This initiative gathers two hundred dedicated volunteers who want to make a difference along with most of the school kids in the Placencia, Seine, Bight and Independence area.  Over twenty local companies contribute boats, fuel, lunches and material to support the program.  Read more about it here.

In addition to the cleanup efforts, the event features a guest speaker who passionately emphasizes the critical importance of reef preservation and environmental stewardship. The Splash Annual Laughing Bird Clean Up serves as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility and opportunity we all share in protecting our fragile ecosystems.

Splash trained the BSOLT cave rescue team from open water diver to dive master level at our sole cost as part of our support program for Belize. The Belize School of Outdoor Leadership Training BSOLT is a Non-Profit Organization that is trained to do rescue work in difficult areas of Belize such as caves and in remote mountain areas.

Splash wants to teach the world about the beauty of Belize and to protect and preserve this special place.  We urge our guests to become ambassadors for Belize to support this value.

Together we make a difference.
