Splash Dive Shop was created in 2000 and was originally located in front of Sunny’s Hotel in Placencia but after two years relocated to its present site just at the beginning of the sidewalk.

Splash Dive Shop is becoming a favorite of diving and snorkel groups. Its operator, Patty Ramirez, a PADI Scuba instructor,  is so enthusiastic that she has adorned her finger and toe nails with the Dive flag. She not only is conscientious about tourist safety, she is known for her hospitality. Patty takes pride in assisting Splash Dive Shop’s tour guests in having a fun-filled vacation and also one that meets their budget packages. She arranges restaurant reservations for dinners that are a fun filled friendly occasion and meet guests’ taste and price range.

With a background of 10 years in accounting, graduating in Finance from the University of Honduras, courses in Interior decorating and 20 years in sports (swimming, marathons and triathlon), Patty learned to dive in the year 2000. It was not until after Hurricane Iris in 2001 that she decided to go further in her diving career and, while working for Nekton Pilot diving cruises she became a Divemaster. She advanced further in 2003, becoming certified as both a Dive Instructor and an Emergency First Response Instructor.

Presently, Patty could teach about 13 specialties: Nitrox, Deep, Navigation, Photo, Video, Night, Naturalist, Emergency First Response, Oxygen Provider, Marine Life Injuries, Advanced Oxygen, First Aid for hazardous Marine Life Injuries and Automated External Defibrillators, for Scuba Diving between others. She also teaches regular classes in Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue, Master Diver, Dive Master and Assistant Instructor.

Between other jobs in the dive Industry, Patty has worked with Nekton Pilot, Sun Dancer II (Peter Hughes Diving), The Belize Aggressor III (Aggressor Fleet) and she tries to apply what she learned in those places to her business.

Patty’s dream is to become a PADI Course Director, but while this is happening she is dedicated to teaching scuba diving and her goal is to introduce the amazing, safe, fun sport to as many curious, enthusiastic and adventurous, young and old people as possible. Patty wants to share the magnificent underwater world of Belize now and to future generations

She teaches to respect the sea and take care of its ecosystems and creatures, from the tiny Sea horse to the majestic Whale Shark.

 TESTIMONIALS

" I found a wonderful dive shop in Placencia. Believe me you will stay with them and not look anyplace else. Splash Dive shop located on the end of the pennisula is GREAT! Run by a young lady by the name of Patty. She is a certified instructor also. They give you great lunches between dives and plenty of it for the hearty appetites. Luis was our guide for one day and he was great! My husbands reg. wasn't working properly so Luis gave him his to use and he delt with my husbands the way it was. They dried our gear for us and kept it overnight so it was dry to pack. They became friends fast and felt VERY comfortable with them."

If any of you fancy learning to dive, we really recommend that you come to Belize for the second biggest barrier reef in the world, the best coral atolls in the Caribbean, warm and clear water, and great marine life. We also recommend Patty Ramirez of Splash dive shop. Shes professional, patient and friendly, everything an instructor should be. In fact, the whole crew were great and we were really sorry when we left Placencia. We went diving together so many times, we felt almost part of an extended family."

"The best dive shop in Placencia for beginners, and to get certified, is Splash Dive Shop, owned and operated by a very nice girl name Patti. She is very friendly, as well a knowledgeable about diving. The big resorts are too expensive for the same service. Splash has very good equipment, nice boat, and good guides. Trust me when I tell you that Patti is very good at what she does!! Visit the shop, talk to Patti, and you will see what I mean!"

Diving
The best outfit was Patty Ramirez' Splash Dive Shop, in Placencia. Patty is a fantastic instructor and her team are professional and very clued up to safety. Other dive outfits have mixed reviews on BelizeForum.com. Dive sites we loved were Turneffe Islands (Caye Caulker) and (from Placencia) Pompion, Silk Cayes and Ranguana
.
